It's arguably the best endorsement you can get—short of the president—and perhaps a crucial distinction that Noel Frame needs to get through a hotly contested primary election.

In the seven-way race to represent the 36th Legislative District, Governor Chris Gregoire is giving Frame her sole endorsement. Frame is running in the middle of the pack when it comes to fundraising—she's raised $46,000 while opponents Gael Tarleton and Brett Phillips have raised nearly $60,000—but the governor's blessing may provide credibility that money can't buy.

“Washington State needs capable legislators who will prioritize and champion public education to prepare the next generation to drive our local economy forward,” says Governor Gregoire in a statement obtain by The Stranger. “Noel Frame is one of these leaders. Noel Frame has a proven track record of advocating for new state revenues to support public education. She is the candidate best qualified to work with all stakeholders — parents, administrators, business, labor and political leaders – to strengthen our public schools in support of long-term economic strength."

Frame runs the state chapter of Progressive Majority, a group preparing and recruiting liberals for elected office.
