Yeah, as Dom already pointed out, the anti-R-74 ad above is incredibly dishonest and bigoted. But what really jumped out at me was the following claim:

"If R-74 is approved, same-sex marriage could be taught in local Washington schools just as it was in Massachusetts."

Yeah, god forbid we should teach our kids in Washington like they teach their kids in Massachusetts, which year after year, study after study, boasts some of the best public schools in the nation. That would be awful!

A 2011 study out of Florida State University ranked Massachusetts public schools top in the nation for science and engineering readiness (Washington was 20th). A 2011 Harvard University study found Massachusetts students ranked first in both math and reading proficiency (Washington ranked 16th in both). And the National Assessment of Education Progress—"The Nation's Report Card"—found Massachusetts eighth graders ranked 1st in math (Washington 16th), 1st in reading (Washington 20th), 7th in science (Washington 22nd), and 3rd in writing (Washington 14th).

Oh my god no, we wouldn't want Washington's public schools to be anything like those in Massachusetts. I mean, first they start teaching our kids about same-sex marriage, and the next thing you know they'll be teaching calculus! It's a slippery slope.

So like the ad above says: Keep Washington's children ignorant. Reject R-74.
