While perusing the Seattle Met's "Nosh Pit" earlier today, ruminating on full-bodied Tempranillos and such, I had an epiphany—If I were to shove a cork up my ass, skin sommelier Madeline Puckette and wear her like a suit, I would give you this advice:

Fuck the Tempranillo and its fancy fucking name. You know what you need this weekend, more than a pretentious wine with "smooth tannins" and Republican sympathies? You need a cheap wine in a practical box with an approachable name like "red." You need entertainment. You need Wine Shots: Comedy's Happiest Hour.

Wine Shots is a monthly-ish comedy night organized by comedians Elicia Sanchez, Jennifer Burdette, and Sarah Skilling (all funny women). And you're in luck! It's happening this Sunday at 8:00 p.m. at the Rendezvous in Belltown. Tickets are $5 at the door (show is 21+).

The schtick is each comedian is given a tray of wine shots to take herself, during her set, or generously distribute to her audience. (There are the normal array of cheap drinks available but c'mon, everyone loves a shot.) This Sunday's performance also features sets by Erin McSmith, Bettina Mckelvey, Monica Nevi, and Lindy West! I have seen the last two performers and can vouch for their hilarity.

Rounding out the evening will be a musical performance by Seattle's own/only all-female Michael Bolton cover band, Lightning Bolton.

In summation, this is obviously what you should be doing with your Sunday evening. Mark your calendar.
