(UPDATE: This post has been updated and moved up to today because AWP is next week!)
As I've mentioned, the end of February will bring the Association of Writers and Writing Programs to Seattle for its annual conference. What does this mean for you? Well, it means Seattle will be home to dozens upon dozens of WP after-parties, all of which are open to the public, and most of which are free. Some of these parties will be group readings. Others will be concerts and dance parties. Some of them will include performances. All of them will have authors in attendance. We've included these events in our readings calendar, and I suggest you start planning your nights now. Here's what we currently have listed for every day of the conference:
By my count, there are 102 events spread over those four days. If you're hosting an event and you don't see yourself on this list, or if you see information that needs correction, please send us an e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org. (Be patient, please, when your event doesn't automatically go up onto the calendar; it's taking us a while to process these events.)
I suggest you start going through these listings and mapping out your four nights of AWP wisely. Those of you who complain that Seattle doesn't have a gigantic book festival are about to have your dreams come true: Seattle will be home to the biggest, best book festival in the world this year. Plan accordingly.
