Had he not died in a car accident in December of 1985, Dennes Dale "D" Boon would have turned 56 today. Boon, of course, was the guitarsonist in the seminal, and progressive, LA hardcore band the Minutemen. I find it really amazing for as progressive the Minutemen were, there haven't been many imitators. Well, except for the Minute-members, drummer George Hurley and bassist Mike Watt, furthering an evolution of the Minutemen sound/style in their next group, FIREHOSE!!

I know most folks rate Double Nickels on The Dime as the best Minutemen record, but I've always thought the first EP, Paranoid Time, is their BEST record. Or perhaps their first LP, The Punch Line? Ugh... so hard to choose their best!
