- Here's a close-up status report on the future Capitol Hill light rail station.
I had to know: Is the umbrella for the guy? To keep rain off the back of his neck? Or is the umbrella for the metal, to keep it from getting wet? Or is it to keep the machine spitting out sparks from getting wet? I asked, and according to Sound Transit, the guy "is welding a joint that needs to be kept dry. Water and welding wire do not mix."
So that's what they're up to this week—making sparks fly and playing with color-coordinated cherry pickers and umbrellas. If you look closely, you'll see there's another guy making sparks fly in the lower left corner, too.

Pro-tip: Construction guys hate it when you say they're "pouring" concrete. They're "placing" concrete, okay?
