Occasionally, over at the great Regina alternative weekly Prairie Dog, I try to explain American politics to Canadians. (My title there is "Prairie Dog’s Official American™.") They asked me to explain our midterm elections, and I tried. Lord, how I tried. My explanation involved YouTube videos, accidental pratfalls, corn dogs, the minimum wage, the Overton window, and how Canada can avoid becoming another United States. I'd urge you to go read the whole thing.
