So nice to have you back, Megan. I still remember the first Seahawks playoff win in '83 back when I was living in the PNW. So, as a Minnesotan for decades, I want your Kraken to kick the ever living shit out of Dallas (who stole our original team... fuck you Norm Greene).
@2 sure. What do you care? Or maybe the question is WHY do you care?
I can't believe Who Is She? did not retain their sweet corporate gig after regaling a crowd of hockey fans with their edgy anthem "Hey, guy who signs my paycheck, you suck! We dare you to fire us!"
Nice story by Predators fan Megan Seling. More Megan, please. Hey, for that matter, I recall there was that one-off story extolling all that's wonderful about Kraken hockey by this one writer whose name we did not see before or since. It would be wonderful to bring her back.
@1: "The Stranger: Public money to for profit business is evil!" What makes this such an ill-informed comment is that the Kraken are the counterargument to that bromide. It was Seattle voters, taxpayers, and elected officials standing up to Howard Schultz's ransom attempt at corporate welfare that paved the way for the Sonics to debunk to Oklahoma City and for the Kraken to take their place in a spectacular, state-of-the-art privately funded arena. Now, if I recall correctly, there were some public incentives thrown in, but we're not talking actually paying for an arena or its upgrade, and the city is getting one heck of a return on its investment with the revitalization of Seattle Center.
@6 Speaking as a Penguins fan myself, I can't tell you how satisfied I was to see the Florida Panthers take down the Boston Bruins with their record-setting regular season, and in such crushing fashion.
"... the Kraken have proven to one of the nation's most stubborn and old-fashioned sports leagues that a franchise doesn't need to adhere to unspoken, antiquated rules to build a fanbase, to sell tickets, and to win.
"The Arena was entirely privately financed by OVG with no City financing; the current project cost estimate is $1.15 Billion. All costs and potential cost-overruns of construction and arena operations are the responsibility of OVG."
Also @1, how did you vote on the 2006 referendum which barred the city from subsidizing sports arenas unless a return on investment was promised? Oh wait, you must not have voted on it because you apparently don't even know that it happened.

@1, perhaps you missed the memo that CPA was built entirely with private funding and no city subsidies.
