I will be cheering on the soon to be victorious Canadian National Women's Soccer Team, No Official Nickname!

Let's go, Canada!

(actually will also cheer on the US team, but Canada is due)

One of the delights of Nathalie Graham's writing for Slog is the sheer, gleeful airheadedness of it. And I don't mean that in a judgmental or negative sense.

Take just the paragraph at the end: "The first match of the tournament, New Zealand vs. Norway, kicks off at midnight PST on July 20. The USWNT’s first game will be at a more reasonable 6 pm PST on July 21."

First off, there's the use of "PST" instead of the correct "PDT" for this time of year. (Anyone who works with Indian software engineers will immediately recognize this usage.) And then there's the reference to the first match of the tournament as if it is happening in the future when in fact today is July 20 and it has already taken place. I'll avoid any spoilers.

@cressona -- that's actually my fault, re: the wording about the first match. Nathalie turned the post in earlier in the week and I was hoping to get it up on Wednesday but ran out of time so posted it today, Thursday, without changing that sentence. Whoops!

Uuuh they’ve already won four. If we prevale this year, it will be 5.
