Sometime in the late 1990s, a small-town gas-station cashier who works at a place called Super Slurp Gas Up and Get Goin’ decides to finish his final shift and blow his brains out. He spends the night reminiscing about his life, toying with the weirdo night owls who come in for gas and sundries, and delivering soliloquies to the security cameras monitored by his boss. Wayne Rawley’s play is a rare combination of searingly funny, sweet, and sad. It’s Chekhov at the corner store, but with jokes, dance routines, and roller skates.
