New in the burgeoning post-silent-film-with-bands-era format of “live documentary” comes The Love Song of R. Buckminster Fuller. Sam Green (The Weather Underground) created a film portrait of the eccentric revolutionary geodesic-dome-home inventor, and he narrates it onstage while a band—Yo La Tengo—plays the soundtrack live. The production was commissioned by the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art in conjunction with a Fuller exhibition, and it’s touring the country.
