In a theatrical experiment born for our 140-character, thumbs-up/thumbs-down era, two old friends and artistic collaborators, Marcus Youssef and James Long, sit on a stage and breeze through a list of things, discussing whether they are “winners” or “losers”: Mexico, Beyoncé, Bruce Springsteen, truth and reconciliation commissions. “Pamela Anderson is a winner and Sylvia Plath is a loser?” Youssef says at one point. “I find that a little elusive.” “Pamela Anderson currently lives in California,” Long replies, “and Sylvia Plath stuck her head in an oven.” But when the debate begins to drift into each other’s familial and class backgrounds, things get personal.
