(THEATER) Fascinating, only mildly flawed Chekhov—and in Seattle, no less! Bartlett Sher's take on the three famously trapped women, desperate for the stimulation of urban life, is passionate and chilling by turns. Plus: a breakout performance by recent UW grad Alexandra Tavares, a pretty set, and evocative lighting design. Craig Lucas's profane, profoundly funny adaptation isn't half bad, either.
