Released in 1988, John Carpenter’s They Live is the rare movie that becomes more and more relevant with every year. When Rowdy Roddy Piper’s drifter uncovers an alien conspiracy to keep us complacent through vapid media and the treadmill that is consumer culture, he basically maps out the next 30 years of American history in advance. While watching They Live, satire bleeds into reality, and you develop the weird feeling that you’re laughing at yourself in a mirror. Plus: There’s a ridiculously long fistfight over a pair of sunglasses. What’s not to love? (Ark Lodge Cinemas, 4816 Rainier Ave S, arklodgecinemas.com, 8 pm, $11)
