Contrary to their name, Melbourne, Australia's My Disco are a rock band—one you could dance to, but not with your hands in the air like you just don't care. Rather, My Disco create throbbing, metallic mantras that drill into your pleasure receptors with relentless, precision- tuned propulsion. Their new Steve Albini–recorded album, Little Joy, revels in a kind of white-knuckled power minimalism, producing an exquisite tension in which pleasure is hard-won, and all the better for it.
