Charles Leo Gebhardt IV figures heavily in the incestuous subgroup of Seattle punk and garage rock. He's popped up in dozens of lineups through the years, but these days he leads a changeable crew under his own name. The members playing with him tonight represent considerable lineages themselves: T. V. Coahran (ggnzla Records, Spurm), Brian Standeford (Idle Times), and Andrew Sullivan (Unnatural Helpers). The eight songs on his latest, Begin Again, sport a refreshing, poppy feel, with jaunty guitars, forthright percussion, and earnest and wry lyrics sung by the voice of a man you might not mind dating your daughter—except for on that one song ("Stand Behind You").
