On this Memorial Day, let us remember the New York Times, that old, old, so very old media property that has lumbered into every major battle in American life for more than 150 years. Let us also remember the many smart people who think the Times might just up and die any day now, a casualty of blogging and tweeting and status-updating and the like. The documentary Page One: Inside the New York Times demonstrates why new-media utopians who cheer this potential Times collapse are fucking idiots—and, best part, uses a former-crack-addict-turned-media-reporter to "vaporize" their ill-informed arguments about the future of journalism. Do not miss (additional screenings May 25 and 28 in Seattle). (Everett Performing Arts Center, 2710 Wetmore Ave, Everett, thestranger.com/siff, 3:30 pm, $11)
