El Mestizo is the dual-action Mexican joint hidden in plain sight where Broadway meets First Hill. During the day, it's an order-at-the-counter taqueria (lunchtime tacos: $2.25). At night, it's your new favorite Mexican restaurant, with white tablecloths, full service, a full bar, and entrées running 12 bucks and up. Dinner is not cheap, but it's oh so good. Meat-lovers love the extravagantly marinated pork pibil. Cheese-lovers love the queso fundido. Everyone loves the amazing house-made corn tortillas. (El Mestizo, 526 Broadway, 324-2445, 11 am–10 pm)
