The great big Seattle International Film Festival starts this week! (And from our early viewing, it looks stronger than any other year we can remember.) The highlight of the first week is this Ewan McGregor–appreciation event. Who, truly, does not appreciate Mr. McGregor? This event includes a screening of the new Mike Mills film he stars in with Christopher Plummer, Beginners, which is a very charming little movie also involving a dignified small dog and a Frenchwoman, followed by a Q&A with Mills and McGregor, and an onstage interview with McGregor including a highlight reel from all of his great big career. (Egyptian Theatre, 805 E Pine St, www.siff.net, 4 pm, $40/$250 including dinner and reserved seating)
