Back in 2008, the Frye Art Museum worked with the state attorney general to reinterpret the last will and testament of Charles Frye, which stipulates all kinds of restrictions about what in the collection can be shown where and with what. The new reading has given curator Robin Held new flexibility to exhibit groups such as Degenerate Art Ensemble, the local performance collaborative that specializes in nightmarish fairy tales and experimental music. This is DAE's first museum exhibition. Expect large-format performance photos, ghostly video, large sculptures, invented hybrid instruments, undulating costumes by Mandy Greer, sound sculpture by Robb Kunz, animations, set pieces, and surprises. DAE likes surprises. (Frye Art Museum, 704 Terry Ave, 622-9250, 11 am–5 pm, free)
