Way back in the '80s, a group of childhood friends made a shot-for-shot remake of Raiders of the Lost Ark. Pre-YouTube, this took serious gumption: They had to memorize one of the greatest adventure films of all time and then take it apart and reassemble it in their backyards. It took six years. That's a uniquely obsessive cinematic devotion—just on the good side of John Hinckley shooting Ronald Reagan to get Jodie Foster's attention—and SIFF Cinema gives us a rare opportunity to watch both movies side by side.
