Forget tomorrow night—tonight is New Year's Eve for metalheads. Exhibit A: Neurosis formed in Oakland in 1985 and have been converting metal nonbelievers with their unique and impeccable blend of metal, hardcore, and psychedelic rock for two and a half decades, and they show no signs of abetting the genre's mediocrity. Exhibit B: WITTR are a spooky pagan band from Olympia that make metal for people who also like Miles Davis. Their songs are complicated and sound like fog moving through the forest at dusk. Exhibit C: Black Breath, a Seattle band that you should know about even if you don't think you like metal, and we'll just leave it at that. Basically, this show represents how the Northwest will take over the worldwide metal scene in 2011. Say you were there when. (Neumos, 925 E Pike St, 709-9467, 8 pm, $25, all ages)
