This is one of those great literary-series ideas, like Naked Girls Reading, that barrels out of another place (in this case, Brooklyn) to find an even more receptive audience in Seattle. The Bushwick Book Club is a music series featuring local musicians who perform new work in response to a great novel. And they don't get much greater than Kurt Vonnegut's masterpiece, Slaughterhouse-Five. Expect the performers—from genres including Americana, blues, show tunes, and more—to write time-twisty songs that include aliens, war, and the occasional tragicomic bird whistle.
