It's becoming increasingly harder to do interesting things with the middle-aged musical form known as garage rock. Nevertheless, a handful of modern proponents manage to shock its rickety corpus into vivid animation; count Austin trio Woven Bones—newly signed to the local Hardly Art imprint—among those select few who can sneer fire into its bones. Woven Bones' songs compress the Jesus and Mary Chain's reverbed, noise-rock threnodies into Pebbles-sized blasts. Exuberance über alles! With Idle Times.
