When's the last time you went to Pilot Books? Capitol Hill's most adorable, indie-minded bookstore has been busy perfecting its stock and redefining bookselling (it just announced a series of micro-residencies, in which local writers get $80 and a writing desk in the store for a couple days). Tonight, three great zine creators get together to make quiet music and talk about gentrification, Real Dolls, and cat's cradle. Readings at Pilot Books involve sitting cross-legged on the carpet and then milling around, touching the handcrafted books. It will renew your belief in literature. (Pilot Books, 219 Broadway E, 229-7181. 6 pm, free.)
