The art-pop songwriting maestro behind the Magnetic Fields is joined by a small ensemble (including Daniel "Lemony Snicket" Handler on accordion) to perform his original score for the 1916 silent classic 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, screening in a new 35 mm print. Originally commissioned for the 2010 San Francisco International Film Festival, this audiovisual treat promises golden melodies, wry words, and old-timey underwater adventure. (Paramount, 911 Pine St, 7:30 pm, $23/$25.)
