Emerald City Soul Club's long-running eponymous dance night at the Lo-Fi Performance Gallery is deservedly popular—it's one of Seattle's all-time classic dance parties, an expertly curated evening of rare soul that feels familiar. It's so popular, in fact, that some nights it seems almost impossible to get into. Luckily, the club's satellite shindig, Talcum, has found a new, relatively roomy home at Chop Suey. The night is named for the powder the DJs sprinkle on the floor before doors open, which, like the Soul Club itself, has dance-floor-lubricating properties.
