In a dusty bin in a record store somewhere, Eugene artist Rob Smith found a 1975 harp album called Locrian Invocation, which bears the call: "LET LIGHT AND LOVE AND POWER RESTORE THE PLAN ON EARTH." The music is frightening-amazing, and so is the devotion—and Smith took this big ball of transcendental yearning as the starting point for his taut, bondage-based sculptures made of royal-blue Plexiglas, nylon rope, and yellow sulfur. See/smell the art in the basement gallery of TARL, then listen to the music up in the living room. (TARL, 1447 21st Ave, information@tarl.us. By appointment, free.)
