When Cheap Beer and Prose debuted last September, the evening—authors read while the audience pickled itself on $1 beers—was a raucous success. Hugo House was packed with sloshed lit-lovers; HH interns had to make a couple of beer runs before the readers even started. Now that Pabst Blue Ribbon is sponsoring the event, CB&P is unlikely to run dry, and the authors—including the hilarious novelist and former Arrested Development writer Maria Semple and the up-and-coming young novella-ist Matthew Simmons (A Jello Horse)—are sure to give performances that will keep the boozy good times a-flowing.
