(BOXING DAY) Nobody knows why the Continent and Commonwealth call it "Boxing Day." The first weekday after Christmas may have had something to do with priests and poor boxes. Or unwanted gifts and servants. In Europe and her post-colonies, Boxing Day means hunting for foxes, wrens, and people who still know how to play cricket. At the George & Dragon Pub, it means ale, free pool, and cheering foreign footballers on the telly: "Força Barça!" Burp. (George & Dragon Pub, 206 N 36th St, 545-6864, 11:30 am–2 am.) BRENDAN KILEY
