This will be sacrilege, I know— but this is one of those movies that when it came out I loved it and thought "what an important film!" But when I re-watched it a while ago, it was about 75% dated and cringe worthy.
From the ridiculous Rosie Perez opening dance (and her terrible acting), the whacky-ass fashions, to the over-the-top hit-you-over-the-head messaging. And then there's Danny Aiello's "yell-acting."
I think people wanted it to be better than it actually is.
