Indeed, you're correct. Their influence on music can't be understated. What an extraordinary rhythm section. I recall first hearing them in the eighties with Tom Tom Club then later with Jones. Truly a distinctive sound.
BTW, another Jamaican vet came to town recently, Jimmy Cliff. I saw him at Park West in Chicago back in the day. I have the soundtrack to the "The Harder They Come" on vinyl!
