Oh oh i have a marijuana joke for this occassion! Because there is smoke over the city. And marijuana makes smoke. Get it? Yep, killed it, quitting day job. In conclusion, Snoop Dog or something.
Keep in mind kiddies that there is a burn ban in affect for King County: you can't enjoy a fire or charcoal BBQ but if you have a propane, natural gas or electric grill you're good to go.
"Altose says the Ecology Department is measuring particulates at 2.5 microns, or 1/1000 millimeters. For comparison, a follicle of hair measures about 50 microns."
This means nothing. Look up PM 2.5. They measure the amount of particulate matter below 2.5 microns because those tiny particles are the most dangerous for your pulmonary health. So the question is, how high is the PM 2.5, and how does that compare? Around 150 µg/m3 in parts of Seattle, and that is "don't exercise if you have have asthma" bad. Any higher and we are in, "everyone, not just vulnerable people, will feel worse" territory.
I read this article for the sole purpose of determining if the reduced visibility was going to create problems for the Blue Angels. Can anyone point me to a non-Stranger media outlet for this information?
By the way, some of the smoke, just over the mountains and heading south through the Methow Valley, is our own, coming from the Diamond Creek Fire in the Pasayten Wilderness. That fire is currently at 7100 acres: https://inciweb.nwcg.gov/incident/5409/
Following up on my @9, Blue Angels flew today, so I assume everything looks good for the weekend shows. It does look sort of ridiculous to seem them trailing smoke against a smoky backdrop.
Sounds delish.
Got a recipe?
