Aw, why the Dina hate?

So what you're saying, Brendan, is that you are surprised by the work of artists who's work you don't know but you are familiar with the work of artist's with whom you are familiar? And this revelation has something to do with the worth of the work itself? Brilliant.

Brendan, you might want to do a little fact-checking. Dina Martina's Cherished Chestnuts was an extensive Spring 2009 non-holiday show. A Google Search works wonders when writing articles.

What?? There hasn't been a "non-holiday Dina Show in 3 years???"...so you didn't see the incredible 2009 Dina Martina's Cherished Chestnuts? It was a perfect example of the unpredictability that's been characteristic of the ever-evolving Dina Martina. Last year's Spring show was a brilliant retrospective celebrating 20 years of Dina Martina in Seattle. From an inadvertant acid-tripping Dina to Sea Monkeys brought to life before your eyes, and the video clips that were part of the show reminding us of the legendary On The Boards shows with an AMC Pacer going from video to then rolling out right onto the On The Boards stage, to an air-suspended Dina Turkey being vertically stuffed as she loomed above the audience...the Spring "best of" show really proved what a twisted and unpredictable ride it's been. The latest Dina show is no exception with the introduction of yet another quirky character from the creative mind of Grady West, and just when you think you know where Dina's going next, the car you're riding in takes another wild turn and you find yourself in the wonderous unfamiliar territory that has been Dina Martina's hallmark.

I love Dina - Brendan you are dumb! sorry but true. get a clue.

How does one use the word rote when reviewing Dina?

Somewhere in the dark recesses of the Starnager, Grady quit sucking somebody off ... now he is "rote."

Sad.

His show is simply brilliant on stage work. Most who attempt the type of elaborate spoof, satire, and humor are vapid and shallow.

Not Grady. Go see it again, take a couple of good friends, get food and a couple of drinks, the best $$$$$ you will spend in a many months.

The others have already flagged your error-riddled write up of Dina. But it gets even worse when you try to take on the Goebbels piece. "The cosmically fractured symphonics of Messiaen's Quartet for the End of Time"?? You really have no idea what you're talking about. Thanks for telling us that Songs of War is "defined by tension." That really makes it stand out from most other theater pieces.

My major misgiving is with your taking space to talk about a foregone conclusion being a foregone conclusion when you could have reviewed any of the actual new (to us, anyway) or unfamiliar theater that's out there.

Please wait...
