Tonight, FFOK (pronounced "fawk"?) returns and this time it's here to pay you.
What is FFOK? Karaoke that even people who don't really like karaoke (i.e. me) enjoy. Korby Sears plays the organ in the little brick-bunker bar known as Vermillion and gives singers an arsenal of megaphone, sometimes a bullhorn, and only awesome songs—and some things that aren't songs. "No boring ballads, no turgid threnodies." (Introductory Slog post here.)
Memorable performances at FFOK include: a megaphone shout-along of "I Wanna Be Sedated," a recreation of Christian Bale's rant on the Batman set, Klaus Nomi's "Total Eclipse," a set of Star Wars quotes performed to an organ rendition of the "Imperial March," and a bunch of other weird shit.
Tonight is the usual sonic mayhem, with the additional bonus of "reverse payola." Sears wants to hear songs in the FFOK songbook that have never been performed—and will pay any audience member $3 to perform them. Songs include:
"Whitey's on the Moon" by Gil-Scott Heron.
"Ataypura: High Andes Incantation" by Yma Sumac.
The theme from Mr. Show, which just involves 60 seconds of whistling.
More payout songs from Mr. Sears are below the jump.
See? So much better than regular karaoke. So, so, so much better.
Tonight. Vermillion. 9 pm to 1 am. And it's free.

CLASSIC NOKIA RINGTONE WALTZ — what do you want to do with this? Just la la la along? Boring. Write lyrics? That’s fun. Freestyle Rap over that sample? Whoah — even better (it’s a waltz!). You tell me what you want to do. Just make it entertaining.

HOCUS POCUS — Focus — It's YODELLING! There is no “Failure” in yodeling! There are no words either. And it ROCKS. This thing is practically humping your leg to perform it.

MAIN THEME FROM “THE GOOD, THE BAD, AND THE UGLY” — Ennio Morricone — perform it the same way you have done in the shower, so many times before.

MAGIC — Pilot (“Oh, Oh, Oh, It’s magic / don’t you know / never believe it’s not so”)

THE DAILY SHOW — TV Theme - you must write original lyrics to this and perform. Which is easy! You know the tune. BTW — the name of the composition is called DOG ON FIRE, so maybe write lyrics around that theme. Which writes itself — oui? 60 second version is fine.
