"Still, even for dyed-in-the-wool tranny-spotters, it can be an honest shock to discover that Jinkx Monsoon is a real-life boy. The first time I saw Jinkx perform (at Trannyshack Seattle, just a measly seven months ago!), the thought that ran through my head is the exact same thought that runs through just about everybody's heads the first time they see Jinkx, 'Hey! Wait! Since when do real girls do drag shows?'"

Total truth. Saw him at the Re-Bar during trivariety maybe a year ago for the first time and my teammates & I argued about it for a few days. It's his goddamn voice--it's too good & too versatile--and of course, his presence.

Awwwe, yeah!!!! Love her! And same here, before we met I saw her perform at Havana's Pride event in a onesie....I! Was! Confused!

She is spectacular.

uh, I will freely admit that I thought Jinxx was a burlesque GIRL helping out her drag buddies at shows until VERY recently.

And, someone needs to think of a production where Nick Garrison and Jerick can share a stage...and where they can both play male AND female roles. It would be astounding.

Yes! This is so deserved! Jerick is a star in the truest form. I'm counting down the days until he's in a starring role on Broadway! I just light up when he starts singing. You know he's just gonna hit every note perfect!
5
LOVE Jerick! What a great feature!

@3 Charles Ludlam's "The Mystery of Irma Vep". Any producers reading? It would be a smash hit.

Jerrick deserves any and all praise anyone has to give him. One of the most talented people I know.

Jinkx makes my jaw drop! Brava!!

@6:

It's either that or "Greater Tuna"...

Jerick, please come back to Portland for a performance! And apply to RuPaul's Drag Race ASAP so I can see you every week!

Not a bad show. Jinx could easily pass for a rather hot chick. Typically, trannies (transgenders) look pretty hot. But drag queens are often more hit-n-miss, because they still live lives as men. So seeing a very attractive drag doing it as good as a tranny is a bit of a surprise.

No kidding... "Hey! Wait! Since when do real girls do drag shows?"

That's exactly what my friend Gion and I thought while watching Jerick perform an amazing, classic vaudeville show as Kitty at the Rosebud several months ago. In fact I JUST texted Gion, who's now in Montana, to say, "Holy shit, Kitty Witless IS a boy!"

But no matter... that was a helluva show. She's fucking amazing.

Please wait...
