My favorite Re-Bar memories involve Charles Smith and Sarah Rudinoff holding court in the booth by the front door.

In other news, I HATE THE STRANGER COMMENTS SECTION FOR ALWAYS MAKING ME DOUBLE POST.

Jeez, guys. Show the comment the first time so I don't keep posting them.

RE-Bar is a Seattle cathedral, tolerant and fun, congratulations and thank you

My first and only night at the Re-bar way back in 1990 or so was the first time I hit on MDMA and discovered I love women just as much as men. Magical night.

Steve Wells doesn't know it, but I got a call from our mutual landlord, Diamond properties, while he was negotiating his first lease. I'd opened the Timberline down the street a few years earlier and they wanted to know if "we needed another you know gay place." I told him; only if they have the vision to create a new niche and build a new market. And of course they did, brilliantly :) But I get even more nostalgic for it's predecessor, The Axel Rock, where I spent many many nights...

Good memories: Dina Martina X-mas drag show, lots of dancing,
Funny memory: blowing someone in the rebar bathroom 2003. Always classy. Thankfully I sobered up on the drive home and avoided amy real sex.

Please wait...
