It's time again for hardcore collectors, casual enthusiasts, and curious newbies of vinyl to flock to local shops for Record Store Day (Sat April 21). There's a fair chance your favorite neighborhood retailer is participating, but just to be sure, we've compiled a list of places to snag deals, flip through limited-edition releases, see live performances, and/or drink special RSD beer. See them all below or on our Record Store Day calendar. Before you go, read Dave Segal's list of 10 Essential Record Store Day 2018 Releases, and consider the Record Store Day Pre-Funk and Record Swap at the Summit Public House on Friday.
The Beer Authority
Sip unique Dogfish Head beers, take home free giveaways, and enjoy special growler prices all weekend in celebration of Record Store Day.
Beats and Bohos
The Fidget/Mantle Duo will play live experimental music while you add to your collection of hard-to-find vinyl.
Easy Street Records
Record maniacs in West Seattle can not only enjoy normal Record Store Day perks (rare releases and sweet deals); they can also enjoy free coffee and bacon in the morning hours and catch live sets from newly formed country-rock fusion outfit HYWAYS and indie folk strummer Noah Gundersen.
EM will host DJs and live acts all Record Store Day, including some of the most admired artists and jockeys in Seattle like Tomo Nakayama, Raica, FKL, and DJ Veins (Stranger music critic Dave Segal—he'll definitely have some weird tracks for you). Plus, pick up some special vinyl for your own collection.
Shop special releases and delight over discounted stock while Sky Cries Mary, whose bass player Stranger contributor Andrew Hamlin claims is "good enough for Yes," play songs from their new album. DJs Jody McKane and Jo Smitty will also spin live sets.
The Growler Guys
The brewery will offer 12 limited-edition Dogfish Head beers while they spin records. They'll start with the Flaming Lips' brand new 7”, which includes a song inspired by their Dogfish collaboration beer, the Dragons and Yum Yums Pale Ale, but guests are welcome to throw their own vinyl on the turntables after that. Cocina Buena and Macho Burgers will provide the grub.
Browse over 100 special releases, snag a free reusable back with any purchase, and take home a bag of goodies (if you're one of the first 50 customers) on Record Store Day. They'll have snacks, too.
Jive Time Records
Sweep up all used vinyl, CDs, and cassettes for 25 percent off. You'll receive a free hand-screened poster with any purchase.
Take 10 percent off vinyl all day long, and keep your eye out for special Record Store Day releases.
In addition to shelling out exclusive vinyl, the record store's Sodo branch will host an in-store performance from soul and bluegrass artist Paula Boggs and her band, as well as a visit from hiphop artist Wyclef Jean.
The Capitol Hill record store will extend their hours (6 am-10 pm) so you can have even more time to fawn over exclusive Record Store Day titles. Bring a receipt or raffle ticket from Friday's Record Store Day Pre-Funk and Record Swap to get 10 percent off all stock.
