November's general election is fast approaching, and so is the last day to register to vote—which, as current events continue to show us, is extremely important. In the coming days, there are several events that either celebrate the institution of voting or offer opportunities to get registered before before the Monday, October 8 deadline, and we've compiled them below, as well as on our election calendar.

SEPTEMBER 27

Postcards to Get Out the Vote!
Write a postcard that expresses why the upcoming midterm elections are so crucial. It'll be sent to someone who didn't vote in the last midterm. DJ Pavone will spin tunes while you write, and you can sip drinks.
Saint John's Bar and Eatery, 5–9 pm

When We All Vote
Not yet registered to vote? Stop by the Tom Douglas restaurant to change that during a national Week of Action. There will be light snacks, beverages, and a "conversation about our rights and responsibilities in shaping our democracy."
Palace Kitchen, 4–7 pm

OCTOBER 1

Seattle Gets Out the Vote
Join the ACLU in writing 500 postcards to inspire people who didn't vote in the last midterm election to get to the polls this November. There will be happy hour food and drinks to fuel you while you work.
The Collective 6–10 pm

OCTOBER 2

My Vote Is My Voice: Storytelling to Inspire Civic Engagement
Before they close their doors for Election Day, Patagonia will team up with Grist.org, Amplifier, Our Climate, and Duct Tape Then Beer for a night of storytelling with artists and sustainability/environmental justice activists to encourage people to vote. They'll also have free snacks.
Tractor Tavern, 7–9:30 pm

OCTOBER 4

Drag the Vote
To encourage voters to update their registration information and get to the polls for the upcoming general election, local drag legend Arson Nicki will host a radical, politics-themed show with their talented friends (Angel Baby KillKillKill, Angela Visalia, Cannoli, Dutchess Drew, Nightshade, and Mr. Dr. Professor, MD). If you're not already registered, you can do so at the event.
Timbre Room, 8 pm
