9. Israel Story Live: Multimedia Radio Podcast Show
   The NPR-like radio show Israel Story (Ira Glass called it "the Israeli This American Life") will visit UW for a live musical/narrative event.

10. Tara Austen Weaver: Growing Berries and Fruit Trees
    Master Gardener Tara Austen Weaver offers an easy-to-follow guide for planting edible berry and fruit trees in your backyard in Growing Berries and Fruit Trees in the Pacific Northwest, which also includes recipes for preserves.

11. Charles Glaubitz: Starseeds
    See original artwork from Starseeds, Glaubitz's mystical graphic novel about two "Starseed" children striving to wrest control of the cosmos from the Illuminati.     Andrea Lawlor's novel Paul Takes the Form of a Mortal Girl, a finalist for the Lambda Literary and CLMP Firecracker Awards, follows a bartender at a college town's only gay bar who is secretly a shapeshifter, which allows him to go on lots of crazy adventures in other peoples' bodies. The author will be joined in conversation by Sketchtasy author Mattilda Bernstein Sycamore. 

23. Daniell Cornell and Mayumi Tsutakawa: Revealing Ruth Asawa, Artist and Advocate
    Cultural historian Daniell Cornell and Seattle writer and curator Mayumi Tsutakawa will talk about the life of the late sculptor Ruth Asawa.

24. Ethical Fashion: Rethinking the Future of an Industry
    As part of Seattle Style: Fashion/Function, this discussion moderated by Seattle PR and marketing agency Gossip & Glamour's Sydney Mintle will address the environmental harm of fast fashion and what you can do about it.

25. Jonathan Haidt: How to Work with Righteous Minds
    Social psychologist Jonathan Haidt argues that humans' moral intuitions and emotions come before the "gut feelings" that people associate with the moral compass. He'll deliver this year's Keller Family Lecture.

36. Barbara Johns: The Hope of Another Spring
    Art historian and curator Barbara Johns will share her new book, The Hope of Another Spring, a biography of Japanese American artist Takuichi Fujii that highlights both his artistic contributions and the historical context of his life (including his incarceration in several American internment camps during World War II). The book features a previously unknown collection of art that Fujii created during his internment, including a detailed and illustrated diary.

37. Bhaskar Sunkara: The Socialist Manifesto
    What would a socialist system in America look like? Bhaskar Sunkara explores the political movement's history from the mid-1800s to the present to offer his best answers in The Socialist Manifesto. 

38. Brad Holden: Seattle Prohibition
    The 20-year period during which alcohol was illegal in Washington State saw a local battle between those who supported Prohibition and those who didn't. Brad Holden will share some pivotal moments from that time as he reads from his book Seattle Prohibition: Bootleggers, Rumrunners & Graft in the Queen City.

39. Professor Christine Ingebritsen: Innovation the Nordic Way
    What is it about Nordic countries that foster such a wealth of creativity, and why are Americans so obsessed? Professor Christine Ingebritsen will offer her insights at this lecture.

40. Rachel Toliver: Shifting Borders
    You've heard of speculative fiction, but what about speculative nonfiction? Essayist Rachel Toliver will talk about what she calls "imagined geographies" and how they blur with objective ones. The organizers add, "When she writes about cities and neighborhoods, she creates unreal places to explore power structures."

     The Northwest Driftwood Artists will display sculptures they've made by sanding away decay from found pieces of wood and shaping the resulting hard-grain material into forms of their fancy. There will be an auction, live demos, and more.

     Moving History is the Moving Image Preservation of the Puget Sound's quarterly ciné-collage of rare and archival footage of Seattle and environs, including "feature films, historic Seattle footage, oral histories, dance performances by PNW artists," and much more.

     Author and translator Barbara Sjoholm will discuss and sign copies of her translation of Emelie Demant Hatt’s By the Fire: Sami Folktales and Legends, a collection of stories that chronicle the late Danish story writer's travels in the early 20th century among the nomadic Sami in Swedish Sápmi.
