The newly opened Champagne Diner, which offers updated diner fare and natural wine, will host a winemaker happy hour with Michael Garofala of Cutter Cascadia Wines, featuring orange Riesling, Dolcetto rosé, meatloaf, and "probably some Heart and Priest on the jukebox."

In Waldman's novel, an Afghan American student travels to Afghanistan to work with an inspiring Western humanitarian and writer—only to find that the man's depictions of his charitable projects are full of inaccuracies, and the villagers he's helping aren't altogether pleased by his presence. Bring in an ambush and the US military, and the student is forced to choose between the villagers and the American soldiers.

  8. Binnie Kirshenbaum: Rabbits for Food

    TUESDAY-WEDNESDAY

    VISUAL ART

  11. Blind Study
See works by L. Bassis, E. Chamberlain, J. Dempcy, J. Johnson, K. McCarthy, G. Occhiogrosso, and A. Spafford. Why are the artists listed with only their first initials instead of their first names? It's a tribute to the “blind auditions” that boosted gender equality in orchestra in the '70s and '80s. As the show notes say, "In 2018, only 30% of gallery-represented artists in the U.S. were female, and female artists made an average of 25% of art sales compared to their male counterparts." This exhibition is a nod toward rectifying that imbalance.

    FOOD & DRINK
