In many ways, Marquis is the most interesting of the area's glass artists, taking what seems to be a good deal of pleasure in the medium's latent junkiness (which is, of course, the flip side of fetishy preciousness). Here, Marquis shows found objects, which he displays reverently, alongside his own glass objects--often broken, misshapen, not quite right (whatever that is). There's lots to do over the four-day festival, but you won't want to miss the Buttersprites on opening night. They're an Asian girl/punk band that includes artists Saya Moriyasu and Elizabeth Jameson (opening night also features Anna Oxygen, Mirah, and others, as well as a silent auction).
