Amy Blakemore and the Diana Camera

Does this tell you anything Jen when nobody gives a f$#k (lack of commentary)about features like this one? Again with the ridiculous comparisons-Arbus,Weegee,Goldin-that's a sad stretch and an insult to great photographers. When will you get your act together and really get us interested and challenged? I bet next week we'll be treated to the AMAZING nothing at Scott Lawrimore's gallery and the GENIUS Gretchen Bennett's(currently Seattle's worst artist) pile of garbage at Kucera"s in honor of the great Picasso from last night's "Worst Thursday". Jesus.....

My comment: I love Jen's writing and no-bs observations about art. Her pieces never fail to make me feel better about the world.
3
Seriously, Hibrowgorilla? Lawrimore Project and Gretchen Bennett? What DO you like, then? Chihuly?
4
gettingtoknowyoubetter: Don't feed the trolls.
5
Ah...j'adore les Trolls! They too make me feel better about the world!
...and Chihuly.
6
...besides, Dale Chilhuly is the Louis Comfort Tiffany of our day.

Go start a blog, Hibrowgorilla, you giant wang.

I hate bad weekly visual arts writing as the next guy, but this is hardly the name-dropping puff piece you try to make it out to be.

Do you actually talk to strangers like this person, or just under the balls-out avatar of "Hibrowgorilla"?

PS: I am not a friend/relative of the writer.

I have to agree with Highbrowgorilla after all. The art situation in this city is grim and inispid. Pathetic. And photographers who use Diana cameras are amateur hobbyists. Point and click. It's as simplistic and accessible as Chihuly glass.

Go highbrow! Sometimes the emperor has no clothes. And what the hell is it with Gretchen Bennett anyway? Seems like something of an opportunist to me. What a coincidence that her work always comments on the latest big exhibition someone else is having. When will she have her own ideas?
10
PS: Slippers, this is an open forum. Get over it.
11
How the heck did Highbrow figure out that we purchased Gretchen's piece from Kucera?

Somethin' fishy goin' on.

Warmth,
Lawrimore Project

i guess the old saying "there's a sucker born every minute" is still golden.
warmly,
HiBrow
p.s.
should used that money for rent on a real gallery?!?!

I've purposefully steered clear of most Diana camera work because so few artists leverage the pros and cons of the technology (or lack thereof). One notable exception is Barbara Gilson, a Portland photographer (http://barbaragilson.com/index.cfm).

I love my little 5 x 5 image of a man walking in the initial diggings for Turrell's Roden Crater.

I'll go check this stuff out. Thanks, Jen.

JTC: The Turrell moment sounds amazing. Was when?

Hey Jen - click this link: http://barbaragilson.com/Portfolio.cfm?n…

Pic was taken 1986. I bought my print in 1988.

PEOPLE, PLEASE SEE THE SLOG FOR THE " I'M SORRY" POST (BY JEN). FAR TOO HARD TO FIND HIDDEN AWAY. (HMMMMM) BUT VERY WORTH SEEING.

Please wait...
