How Cambodia's Best-Known Artist Makes Peace

The lake outside his office is controversial in itself and Im sure that there is a reason he included the images in the exhibit. In Phnom Penh the Boeung Kak lake is being filled with sand to make way for a $79 million commercial development. Once completed this will constitute the largest forced eviction in Cambodia since the Khmer Rouge evacuated Phnom Penh in 1975. Not only has the development displaced, violently and forcefully, some of the cities poorest residents, it is an environmental disaster. Even the World Bank has suspended all new funds to Cambodia over the evictions.
On a lighter note, congratulations to Sopheap Pich on another amazing show!
