I think Charles overlooked a third Black conservatism: the purely political variety. Cosby is/was a social conservative (as Charles defines it) but he was never in the same ideological class with Clarence Thomas, Larry Elder, Thomas Sowell and others who believe that the entire civil rights movement (or major parts of it) was at best a huge collective mistake, and at worst a Soviet-inspired plot to undermine free enterprise.
