Someplace better give Charles Parrish a major retrospective.

Nice article Jen. The residency was so important to Mr. Washington. I believe that he knew that it would keep his legacy alive better than any Museum ever could. When Daniel Minter came for the first residency it was as if the house and studio came alive. Like two big, old dogs shaking off the dust of years, stretching their legs and wagging their tails in welcome to an old friend. That place is built for artmaking. Thank you James & Janie Washington...

Hi Jen. That is a creative approach to the story.
Thanks for such a thorough job.
You might want to know that I was the one that tracked down those missing sculptures in Philidelphia. It was really exciting. I have pictures of them. They are being re- installed there, we think, at the inner city shopping mall that commissioned them from Washington in the late 60s. Sadly they were vandalized only one day after they were first installed.

Great article Jen. The Washington's house and studio seem to drip with history and I love their ability to inspire the new.
