This panoramic view of a single gallery at the Henry Art Gallery shows just one part of Hamilton’s new museum-wide installation. In the center, the woman in red is reading aloud to a picture on the wall.
The Stranger
This feels like an extension of the piece she did for the Park Avenue Armory in NYC, where actors read philosophy to pigeons. It sounds pretentious, but her work is really quite moving and beautiful.
An extra dimension that I enjoyed on opening day was the food truck in the courtyard that served fried rabbit. After an hour of awe and adulation in a sort of cathedral for dead animals it was a fun, bizarre touch, and further underscored how much at our mercy and whim the creatures of the world are.
