Whoever wrote the first bit needs to seriously educate themselves on neurodiversity (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neurodiver…). Making fun of a neurodivergent individual and their choice of service animal and then discouraging them from engaging politically because of how they choose to do so is unacceptable. This publication owes Erick a fucking apology and needs some serious education for whoever wrote that.

Yeah, you owe him an apology. Trying to publicly shame him because of his differences and accusing him of mistreating his service animal when you have no evidence of such is real slimey. Erick's a really great guy and Deer is a happy well treated pet.

I know the guy with the goat. I've worked with him and the goat, oddly enough, and I know that he genuinely loves that goat very much and takes care of it and I would guess the relationship is reciprocal. Whatever his feelings on Bernie are, he should feel free to state them and should not be shamed for doing so. Birdie Sanders would not approve of this article.

I'm glad the goat is well cared for. Goats are cool! I wonder at this writer's assumption that the goat was ill used in some manner. Although, I have to remind myself that this IS The Stranger, after all. Snippy, sarcastic comments and many a story or a news blurb with a self-righteous air. Who cares about facts when you can make a snide comment at someone else's expense?

SEA_Meister: You meant BERNIE Sanders, right? "Birdie" Sanders lives on BEAKon Hill, doesn't he? Ha! Cheep shot. I'll be here all week, folks.

The way you portray Erick in this article is incredibly tasteless. Erick is an amazing individual, and the paper not doing its due diligence in representing him is shameful and is not representative of the journalistic process. You owe him and his family, who are residents of this amazing city, an apology. I know Erick personally and am from the same community he is from in the Florida panhandle and know that he genuinely cares for Deer, his goat, and treats him with the greatest care. As a paper which prides itself on representing the under represented this is just shameful.

"As a paper which prides itself on representing the under represented this is just shameful." let's be honest, this paper exists only to keep the Amazon folks a list of expensive things to do. Or, my favorite, the cheap things to do with the small handful of rich twentysomethings want to go out and slum it for the weekend.

Always follow the money and remember if you're on PreP treatment Dan Savage thinks your an idiot!!

@1 & 2- a goat is not a service animal per ADA regulations. @2- service animals are not pets.

@4- yes, goats are cool!

Please wait...
