About this world that "needs our attention so badly".
Our politics have devolved into a choice between a fascist and a tool of the establishment.
Our culture is focused on problems that either don't have resolutions or don't have resolutions that can be implemented in our century.
Our economy has very, very serious issues that nobody reading this can actually make any progress on.
Honestly, when looking at the almost limitless ocean of despair and agony that we are confronted with on an almost daily basis, I can't say I blame anyone for retreating into their Pokemon Go/weed/whatever.
the people who dislike it are all of the "stop liking what I don't like" vein. you included, anonymous staff member.
I don't play but you have to have both feet in that camp to hate that people are walking around and talking to each other instead of doing the seattle-freeze that we normally do.
Haters will hate. I don't even play Pokemon and see the value in it. Some of us have no interest in spending time with people who just want to shit on others for not being neurotypical. You ever start to think that maybe people are on their phones all the time around you because you're an asshole?
Dude playing on his phone at a party would probably have been playing on his phone at a party without Pokemon Go. Dude bitching about Drowsee doesn't know how long it took me to get a Drowsee. Also he would probably have been watching Wheel of Fortune or something if it weren't for Pokemon Go.
In the meantime I've been trading smiles on the street with fellow players with a spirit of camaraderie I rarely have felt before. I don't talk to anyone (let's not go crazy here), but I'm doing much more eye contact.
Remember when BLM hijacked a vigil for the victims of the Orlando massacre and proceeded to make it all about their political agenda? Funny, I don't seem to recall the Stranger covering that and I can't help but wonder why.
Also I'd like to dedicate a special lol to 2CV who feels justified to write off anyone gaming for more than thirty minutes (can't even finish a damn game in that long...can't even finish a damn game of Puerto Rico 2CV, shaking my damn head here), and yet the sum total of her existence has also led her to post anonymous comments on the stranger news posts like me and all the rest of the wastes of humanity
@12. I completely agree with you. Interestingly enough The Stranger did not cover those assholes turning a vigil in Orlando into their own political rally, as well as them hijacking Pride Parade in Toronto until their demands were met.
Please wait...
and remember to be decent to everyone all of the time.
make..my...day
