One question, for the author or any readers: how the hell does one pronounce "womxn" ? (I don't know how to pronounce latinx either, another "word" that the author employs often.) Since Ms Knauf's the only writer I've ever seen employ the usage, I assume it's not terribly important that I learn, but I'm curious how they pronounce this in their Women's Studies class, or if it's pronounced the same, and merely a tool to deny the patriarchy/oppressors/what-have-you exclusively in print.
"For Bevier and Curtiss, this wasn't about just saying "solidarity" and acting like that's enough. For these women, knitting, crocheting, and sewing are a valuable means of *actively* participating in this larger womxn's rights movement with their community."
While they're reinforcing a stereotype about women with their pink pussycat hats, they should pin Playboy cottontails to their asses, too.
Sigh. As a woman, it constantly amazes me how we sabotage ourselves with shit like this. I bet they think this is staging a revolution. This is a girls day with megaphones.
Actually, Gloria Steinem DID once dress as a Playboy Bunny--to protest Hugh Hefner, male chauvinists, ignorant trolls, and the unfair stereotype of women here in the United States and abroad. I salute Gloria Steinem and others participating in the Women's March.
Great timing - women from all over the country who blew their savings to "feel the love" at Christmas are going to go march in artic weather while everyone who was celebrating the transition will still be asleep or nursing hangovers. Better buy up that Starbucks stock now, because thats pretty much were this event land.
wow.
I've been wearing pussy on my head - and my face, specifically - since, like, forever.
